Allotment Vegetable sowing and harvest time planner

 

                                                                            

  

 

I thought I would try to put together a simple table to show roughly my vegetable seed sowing and planting times.

Also the time I would expect to start harvesting,plus the varieties of veg I grow myself and would recommend.

Remove all thinnings from plot to deter carrot fly
Garlic Oct+ or Mar+ July+ Wilkos own ! Eat flower spikes as scapes to be trendy.
Kale Mar+ June+ Nero di Toscana Plant some later for a Winter hardy crop.
Leek Feb+ August+

Autumn Giant

Don't feed after mid Summer to makethem more Winter hardy.

Sow little Gem every 3 weeks

for a continual crop

Buy heat treated sets to prevent boting.Especially Red varieties.

Frost sweetens them up.

The only pea to grow !High yielding,sweet &  10-11 in a pod

Kestrel

Try some in compost in bags under coverfor a really early or late crop.

Shallot Feb+ June+ Red Sun Red varieties seem to store better.
Squash Apr+ August+ Harrier

Grow in as big a pot or bag as you can.The more room the better the crop.

Courgette May+ July+ Defender Avoid watering over leaves to prevent mildew.

Slow to start growing but get there in the end.
Cucumber May+ July+ Burpless,Marketmore Keep humidity high and watch for spider mite.
